Celeste Murcia, Planning Guatemala’s Founder, acquired deep expertise in the tourism industry as she worked during 10 years for the most prestigious hotels in Guatemala; The Westin Camino Real, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Porta Hotels, Camino Real Antigua and Hotel Soleil Antigua. Celeste developed her skills in operations and management levels, she played several roles from being a Reservations Executive, Assistant of the Marketing and Sales Director, In-House Sales Executive, Groups Coordinator, Reservations Manager, Revenue Manager, Key Account Manager, Wedding Planner, Congress & Conventions Manager, Front Desk Manager, and Rooms Division Director.
More recently, Celeste joined an award-winning and worldwide certified premier tour operator & DMC based in Antigua Guatemala, she specialized in coordinating logistics and designing tailor-made travel experiences for individual travelers and groups in Central America, she has professionally traveled knowing in detail touristic destinations and attractions, inspecting hotels, restaurants & event venues, hiking volcanoes, experiencing first hand all types of cultural tours, getting in touch with her Guatemalan culture at its very roots. Celeste has built the most reliable network of suppliers, guaranteeing utter and top quality in all services and products hired from and by Planning Guatemala, in order to successfully satisfy the most demanding wishes and needs. Celeste is a graduate from USAC as a Business Administrator and has a degree in Administration of Hotels, Tourism and Gastronomy from the UMG, she has achieved multiple seminaries with specialization in customer service, food & beverage standards, social etiquette, venue styling, wedding planner, security and safety practices, etc. Later on, she has been constantly building up her educational portfolio, in order to maintain herself up to date with the most current trends.
The project of Planning Guatemala emerged when Celeste found out that she was expecting a baby, she decided to be a present mom, and she knew that she needed to start her own travel company, with the purpose of having the opportunity to take care of her son whilst continuing to work on her passion; coordinating Travel, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions) and Weddings.
Since Celeste was pregnant, she joined a local community of mothers, where she got to know how thousands of women are united by one common power unit, mother’s love. She found out the way mothers have an unexplainable connection amongst them; there is always a mother willing to guide, to support, to solve and share.
Considering that Planning Guatemala would not exist (at least not yet) without her child’s arrival, Celeste decided that her company would become into a source of work for mothers, entrepreneurs, and representatives, through a network of suppliers of products and services for everything that needs to be outsourced, in order to satisfy the needs of her clients; meaning that all the labor done by Planning Guatemala, is well oriented to be of benefit and support for mothers who work hard and struggle every day for their family’s welfare.
